Individual Therapy

“we can not control the wind but we can adjust the sails”

Individual therapy sessions offer kids and young adults a space to explore, process and grow. Therapy begins with an intake process, where information is gathered to get a complete picture of your child’s history, challenges, and strengths.

Therapy can look different for every person depending on the needs of the individual. While we create a treatment plan and goals after the intake appointment, we are always assessing and reassessing during the therapeutic process to best support authentic growth.

Individual therapy will always focus on the child or young adult and when needed family members may be brought into the sessions to best support the therapy process.

Play Therapy

“birds fly, fish swim, kids play”- Garry Landreth

Play is essential to human growth, development, learning and cultivating relationships.

Play is our first language. Just as adults use words to communicate, children use play. When playing, we express thoughts and feelings that might otherwise remain hidden.

Play Therapy is a powerful tool for addressing cognitive, behavioral and emotional challenges. I use play to help clients better process their experiences and develop more effective strategies for managing their worlds.

Play is natural process that:

  • Builds trust and mastery

  • Fosters learning and acceptable behaviors

  • Regulates emotions

  • Reduces anxieties

  • Promotes creative thinking and problem solving

  • Encourages open communication

  • Elevates spirit and self-esteem

Nature & Forest Therapy

“the forest is the therapist, the guide opens the door”

Nature and Forest Therapy, also known as Forest Bathing, is a relational practice that brings people into deeper intimacy with natural places. And one of those natural places is our natural self. It’s also important to recognize how the practice supports every aspect of our well-being.

There are many wonderful health benefits attributed to forest therapy including boosted immune function, improved cardiovascular and respiratory health, attention restoration and a reduction in stress and depression.

Nature and forest therapy is a research-based framework for supporting healing and wellness through immersion in forests and other natural environments. Forest therapy follows a defined sequence of guided invitations that provides structure, while embracing opportunities for creativity and serendipity offered by the forest and the inspiration of the guide.

A guided walk allows participants to tune into their senses and, “Relax, Restore, Release and Reconnect”.
